Designation Level: Gold

Not all Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurants are brick-and-mortar, traditional dine-in establishments. Chief among this class of members is Gold designated Kimberley Ashlee Catering, a mobile catering company with a state-of-the-art kitchen on wheels (based out of Squirrel Hill when stationary).

With a growing roster of delighted clients (“They never disappoint!” –Facebook Reality Lab; “They incorporate the freshest ingredients and we love this!” –Under Armour) the owners continue to live up to their founding passion for “culinary innovation and our genuine love to serve others.” As a locally-owned business, Kimberley Ashlee Catering understands the importance of supporting vibrant communities and a healthy environment while making food to both amaze and delight their clients.

Nearly 80% of its in-season produce is sourced locally, as are all of its ethically-raised animal products. Its roster of Pittsburgh-area suppliers includes A519 Chocolate, Emerald Valley Artisans, Gerber’s Amish Farm, Jubilee Hilltop Ranch, Logan Family Farms, Paragon, Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance, and Yarnick’s Farm.

These fresh ingredients form the basis of their mouth-watering offerings, a small sampling of which includes pork belly, pickled carrot and daikon in mini bao buns, duck confit on toast with fig chutney, and butternut squash shooters with sage crouton and crème fraiche.

Beyond their food-sourcing excellence, this women and minority owned business demonstrates its commitment to sustainable best practices by recycling all of its glass, paper, plastic, and aluminum; using compostable plates, cups, and utensils; composting organic waste material with Lawrenceville United; and donating unused food to 412 Food Rescue.
