Chateau Café & Cakery in Pittsburgh’s Northside neighborhood has been serving up sweet treats and light bites for breakfast and lunch since 2013. A welcome addition to the Northside, this restaurant recognizes the importance of supporting Pittsburgh’s environmental health and community well-being. Because of this, they are recognized as a Silver designated Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant.

Initially a bakery, Chateau Café has incorporated breakfast and lunch items into their menu over the years. Their  breakfast menu is comprised of health-conscious rolled oats with your choice of toppings, and they also offer a variety of breakfast sandwiches that are a favorite among regulars. Their lunch menu is thoughtfully put together with offerings of salads, wraps, sandwiches, and soups. But the real attraction, in our opinion, is the selection of incredible baked goods—pies, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, muffins, and scones fill the counter and are ready to satisfy any sweet tooth.

The interior space is light and inviting while historic photos of the city of Pittsburgh adorn the walls. Find a seat at one of the repurposed tables or cozy up with a hot cup of locally roasted coffee and a pile of cookies in a corner nook. Either way, you will find that Chateau Café & Cakery is a space that fosters comfort and hospitality. Chateau Café & Cakery offers event catering, and they even rent out their space for private and corporate events.

As a testament to her appreciation for the city and those living here, Owner, Keren DeCarlo makes efforts to incorporate sustainable practices into everyday operations at Chateau Café & Cakery. By purchasing items in bulk, repurposing fixtures, and recycling materials they are sending less waste to landfill. They also work to support the community by employing local residents, donating to Light of Life, Sister Friend, 412 Food Rescue, and they have even worked with various community gardens. The café also offers many healthy options on their menu, as well as vegetarian and vegan choices, and gluten and nut free baked goods.
