Bado’s Pizza Grill and Ale House is a beloved neighborhood pub and grub spot located on the charming shopping district on Beverly Road in Mt. Lebanon. For more than 30 years, Bado’s has been a part of the Pittsburgh community and a favorite spot among locals. In 2016, Bado’s earned a Silver designation with the Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant program that validates their commitment to the health and resiliency of the Pittsburgh region.
This family owned, and operated restaurant takes pride in serving delicious food made from high quality ingredients. The restaurant didn’t always offer the selection and atmosphere that it does today, though. In 1984, founder Frank Badolato opened a small pizza shop on Beverly Road. Five years later, the restaurant expanded to be both a pizzeria and deli. Then in 1999, Bado’s grew into a full bar and grill. The evolution continued when Bado’s introduced a food truck to share their delicious eats with neighborhoods all over the region.
Bado’s offers a diverse selection, with something for every palette. They are best known for their traditional and gourmet pizzas, but visitors also rave about their wings and bar food; their extensive menu of unique and interesting salads, hoagies and deli sandwiches; and homemade Italian classic pastas. They even open for breakfast on the weekends. In the libations department, the bar offers 20 rotating beers on draft, great rotating daily specials, and a weekly beer tasting event. The atmosphere has something for everyone as well—from family style seating to a large friendly bar and outdoor tables along the Beverly Road sidewalk in the summertime.
As shown by their designation with the Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant program, Bado’s follows a large number of sustainable practices. Among the highlights, they donate and recycle large items such as old booths and tables to Construction Junction, recycle old kitchen equipment, use recyclable pizza boxes, takeout bags and napkins, and take advantage of paperless billing and ordering whenever possible. They also take many steps to reduce energy and water waste by purchasing Energy Star equipment and checking water systems daily to ensure all are in proper working order. Bado’s also takes pride in their community and they contribute to many local charity organizations, church groups, and local school programs throughout the year.
